History of the Firm |
The Law Firm of Steven M. Ellsworth, P.C.was established in 2003 by Mr. Ellsworth as a specialty law firm providing legal representation in all Family Law matters. Since that time, the firm has grown with the addition of two more family law attorneys, Richard. S. Fregin and Glenn D. Halterman, along with four paralegals and other highly trained support staff. Our office in Mesa, Arizona, is conveniently located near the Mesa and Phoenix branches of the Maricopa County Superior Court. The attorneys for the firm also regularly appear in the Pinal County Superior Court located in Florence, Arizona. |

Steven M. Ellsworth is a native of Mesa, Arizona. Mr. Ellsworth received a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Brigham Young University in 1986. Mr. Ellsworth was then awarded a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1989. He received First Place Honors at the William B. Spong National Moot Court Tournament at the College of William & Mary in 1989. He was also inducted as a Member of the American Inn of Court and the International Legal Fraternity of Phi Delta Phi. In addition, Mr. Ellsworth was the recipient of the Callaghan & Company Outstanding Law Student Award in 1989. Mr. Ellsworth was admitted to the Arizona State Bar in 1989. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Arizona and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Ellsworth has been certified as a “Family Law Specialist” by the Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of Arizona. In addition, he has been appointed and serves as a Superior Court Judge Pro Tem for the Maricopa County Family Law Court. Mr. Ellsworth is also a member of the Family Law Sections for the Arizona State Bar and the Maricopa County Bar Association. |

Richard S. Fregin is a 1993 graduate of the Hamline University School of Law, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Fregin earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing at the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse in 1985 and a bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse in 1994, graduating magnum cum laude. Mr. Fregin was admitted to the Wisconsin State Bar in 1994 and worked in private practice in La Crosse, Wisconsin before moving to Arizona in 2003. Upon moving to Arizona, Mr. Fregin performed contracted legal services for various law firms in Maricopa County, including the Law firm of Steven M. Ellsworth, until 2004, at which time he became a full-time employee of the firm. He was admitted to the Arizona Bar in February of 2006 and limits his practice to family law matters. He is currently a member of both the Wisconsin and Arizona Bar Associations. |

Glenn D. Halterman is a 2002 graduate of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Halterman earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at Southern Utah University in 1999, graduating summa cum laude. Mr. Halterman was admitted to the Utah State Bar in 2002 and worked in private practice in Cedar City, Utah before accepting a position as a prosecuting attorney for Iron County, Utah. Mr. Halterman joined the Law Firm of Steven M. Ellsworth, P.C. in November 2006 and was admitted to the Arizona State Bar in 2007. He now limits his practice area to family law matters. |
